Beekeeping Experience in Kastna

Guests of the Meierei have an exclusive opportunity to discover the world of bees on a guided visit to a beekeeping farm in Kastna. Here, the honey “Aeglane hetk” (“A Slow Moment”) is produced from the flowers of coastal meadows.Together with the beekeeper, you will inspect the hives and learn how work is divided within a bee colony, as well as the differences between worker bees, drones, and the queen. Those who are more adventurous can lend a hand and assess whether the honeycombs are ready for harvesting. There is also an opportunity to purchase fresh honey to take home.

The visit includes:

A guided tour of the beekeeping farm (2 hours), protective clothing, beekeeping equipment, and honey tasting.
Price: €80 / up to 10 people (larger groups by agreement),
available May–July in good weather.

Book your visit and request more information here.

Workshop: From Hive to Jar

Take part in a hands-on workshop where you extract fresh honey from the comb and jar it yourself under the guidance of a beekeeper. You will take home up to 3 kg of honey you’ve prepared yourself, along with the unforgettable aromas of honey, wax, and propolis—and the knowledge of how honey makes its way from the comb to the jar.

The workshop includes:
Uncapping the honeycombs, spinning the honey out,
filtering, and jarring. Duration 2 hours.
Price: €80 / up to 6 people (larger groups by agreement),
available July–Septembe

The workshop includes:

Learning to use natural materials, understanding how and why bees produce wax, and creating a cosy atmosphere with a warm honey scent. Duration 1.5 hours.
Price: €30 per participant / up to 10 people
(larger groups by agreement), available year-round.
